Yaya Toure among the most popular
The Sun recently released an article talking about the possibilities that Luis Suarez had to be named Player of the Year. According to sports marketing experts Repucom, this year a 43.62 percent of the population find him likable, a rise of over 7 percentage points over the previous year, when his rating was a low 36.61%.
Indeed, as the season enters a thrilling climax and the 2014 FIFA World Cup awaits in Brazil this summer, Suarez is now seen by the UK general public as more likeable than Manchester United and England forward, Wayne Rooney. However, he is rated as being less likable than other top players of the Premier League such as Eden Hazard (72.26%), Yaya Toure (71.13%) or his teammate Steven Gerrard (60.73%).
