Joe Hart feels determined days ahead of England’s debut
Joe Hart believes England is in good shape for Brazil tournament
England’s #1 Joe Hart conceded a series of interviews prior to England’s debut on Saturday and he explained that the team is feeling confident and that he doesn’t think he will be affected by the keeper curse that has struck his World Cup predecessors.
The Sun, The Daily Telegraph, Daily Mail, Mirror and many other newspapers have published Joe’s declarations stating that the team is ready for the World Cup after their pre-World Cup training camp in Miami. Joe is all over the news every time he speaks.
“We feel like we’ve had a great three weeks together. We really feel like a team – a good strong English team going into a tournament with every chance to express ourselves and do well” Joe said.
Manchester City star Hart knows all eyes will be on him in Brazil this summer as England’s #1 looks to avoid similar disasters.
But Hart, who went to the South Africa in 2010 as Fabio Capello’s third choice keeper, says he will never focus on bad moments from the past and is confident he can handle the pressure.
The 27-year-old explained: “Stuff happens. You’ve got to be aware of that as a keeper. Incidents happen all the time. We try to move on and be positive.”
Hart, like the rest of the keepers in South Africa, lived in fear of the Jabulani ball, which became infamous for being so unpredictable in flight.
This time, England have been working with this year’s official Brazuca ball. And Hart insists it holds no such fears.
“It’s been fine with us. We’ve had plenty of time to work with it. It’s a football and people are good at smashing it. Like all footballs, it’s round!” he said.
Four years ago, Hart was the rookie behind Green and veteran David James. Now he is the nation’s undisputed #1.
Joe Hart goes into the tournament in good form, high on confidence after the Blues’ title triumph and believing England are a much better side now than four years ago and have prepared well for Brazil.
“We are all very excited. There’s been a lot of talk. Brazil has been mentioned so many times and we’ve not even got there. The tournament starts Thursday and it really heats up then,” said Hart.
“We feel like we’ve had a great three weeks training together. We really feel like a team – a good, strong English team going into a tournament with every chance to express ourselves and do well.”
