Luis Suarez Becomes 888poker Ambassador
Liverpool FC star Luis Suarez was recently announced as 888poker’s newest brand ambassador
888poker are major players in the world of online poker and the news, which comes ahead of this year’s World Cup in Brazil, will be seen as a major coup for the brand. Luis Suarez will be answering questions about his plans with the online site in a media press conference shortly.
As part of the deal, the Uruguayan becomes a member of Team 888poker and will regularly play online on the site. He will also participate in live events and what the company calls ‘money-can’t-buy experiences’.
A statement from 888 announcing the partnership on Wednesday referred to Suarez as ‘a keen poker enthusiast’. No financial terms were disclosed.
“Luis Suarez is an incredible sporting talent: passionate, competitive, technically gifted and emotionally invested in the game,” said Itai Pazner, a senior vice president at 888.
“It’s those qualities that make him an exciting player to watch, in poker as well as football. It’s fantastic to have him on board.”
Suarez won the Premier League’s Golden Boot award this season, scoring 31 goals in a year in which he was also named the Football Writers’ Association and Professional Footballer’s Association ‘Footballer of the Year’.
In his new role as a Team 888poker brand ambassador, Suarez will be joining celebrities including cricket legend Shane Warne, UFC champion Georges St-Pierre, and poker hotshots JC Tran, Sofia Lovgren, and Xuan Liu.
As it happens nowadays with most of these commercial partnerships, the brand took advantage of Suarez’s global reach to give visibility to the brand through his Twitter.
