Yaya Toure eyes Manchester City Champions League success

Barcelona's Yaya Toure of the Ivory Coast holds the UEFA Champions League trophy with his brother Arsenal's Kolo Toure in AbidjanYaya Toure has challenged Manchester City to pursue the Champions League trophy after regaining the Premier League title

Now that the season is over, City can look back fondly on a double-winning season, with Manuel Pellegrini’s men securing the Premier League crown for a second time on the final day after their Capital One Cup triumph in March.

Toure played a key role in City’s success and was the driving force behind City’s Premier League title success, with 20 goals in an outstanding season. Despite Manchester City’s great season, he has already set his sights higher, demanding a long run to Champions League glory in the next campaign.

The newly-crowned Premier League champions got past the group stage for the first time in four attempts during the 2013-14 campaign before eventually losing to Barcelona in the last 16.

However, Toure wants City to go one further next year and lift the trophy, as he did with FC Barcelona in 2009.

“Next year I think we will try to bounce back, try to qualify for the first round and second round try to get it,” the Ivorian international is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

“For me the target is to go far and win the Champions League” he said.
