Lionel Messi is the new global ambassador of Dubai 2020

Lionel Messi has been confirmed as the first global ambassador of Dubai Expo 2020. The superstar football player who recently won his fifth Ballon d’Or will be participating in meetings, collaborating and promoting the event worldwide.

Messi is the first of many more opinion leaders that will be presented as global ambassadors coming from other fields as culture, communication, arts, science and business.

Reem Ibrahim Al Hashimi, General Manager of Expo 2020, said: “He overcame youthful health challenges to achieve his dreams of international excellence through hard work; making him an inspiration. He is perfectly placed to reach out to young people around the world, bringing them together to join us as we work towards hosting our World Expo in 2020.”
