Portuguese star, Cristiano Ronaldo, is the perfect example of how to make the best of social media. He could set up an example of best practices and how to successfully engage with fans. In his latest promotional campaign with Sportlobster, he gave away a Portuguese shirt that “he” had carefully hidden somewhere in London.

The player announced the promotion via Twitter and he then gave clues to his London fans so one of them could find the prize. He got around 1,000 RT every time he would post a new clue and he later uploaded a picture and congratulated the winner to wrap it up. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. are a fantastic marketing platform that allow players to engage with fans and to appear closer to them.
