Macherano signs for… Uruguay

Tourism of Uruguay recently unveiled their latest campaign to promote the country as a touristic destination and they chose no other than the Argentinian idol Javier Mascherano.

The new campaign for the 14/15 season came as a surprise to many people and has been a bit controversial. It’s not a random stranger who promotes Uruguay, but the proud Argentinian and football star Javier Mascherano, who last summer reached the World Cup final defending his country. In the new advertisement, Mascherano invites all his fellow Argentinians to spend their holidays in Uruguay in an attempt to recover the high levels of Argentinian tourists that the country had during the previous years.

This campaign (in Spanish) is a good example of how brands can be creative and think outside the box to reach their objectives and reach their target audience.
